PECO will be raising their rates by 11 percent starting September 1, according to the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission.

PECO, which is owned by Exelon Corporation, and other energy providers have filed rates for their quarterly adjustments.

PECO’s rates will go from 7.637 cents to 8.508 cents per kWh, an 11.4 percent increase, according to their filing.

Of the four other electric companies increasing rates in September, PECO has the second smallest increase.

The double-digit rate hike comes amid warm weather and global inflation that has hit locals and businesses hard.
